Mississippian Angel Mounds Indoor Presentation (On site or Outreach Program, 4th grade thru Adult): This program focuses on the lifestyle and culture of the Mississippian occupation of Angel Mounds. The program begins with a video and is followed by a presentation involving artifacts and reproduction artifacts.
History & Culture Grounds Tour (On site only, preschool thru Adult):This program focuses on the history and culture of Angel Mounds. It includes elements of both the prehistoric and historical eras for a comprehensive perspective of Angel Mounds? occupation.
Flint Knapping & Tools (On site only, 4th grade thru Adult, maximum 15 participants per session): This very interactive program allows participants to try their hands at Mississippian tool making. Participants will saw stones using sandstone, drill holes in pendants using chert and cane drills, as well as create knives by flint knapping. Participants will be able to keep their pendants and knives.
Archaeology C.S.I. - Cultural Scene Investigation Indoor Presentation (On site or Outreach Program, 6th & 7th grade Science and Math Only): This program focuses on the science of archaeology and is geared towards 6th and 7th grade math and science standards. It involves a Powerpoint presentation and discussion
Angel Mounds Historical Era Indoor Presentation (On site or Outreach Program, 4th grade thru Adult): This program focuses on the historical era of Angel Mounds? occupation. It includes a slideshow of historical images and a presentation on the archaeological period with an emphasis on the roles of the W.P.A., Glenn Black, Eli Lilly and other historical figures who contributed to Angel Mounds.
Natural Resources of the Mississippians Grounds Tour (On site, preschool thru Adult): This program focuses on how the Mississippians at Angel Mounds utilized their natural resources to make a living. Participants will become familiar with wildlife and its purposes in Mississippian culture.
*NEW* "Secrets of the Soil" Artifact Sifting Program (On site, 3rd grade thru Adult): This hands-on program focuses on the concept and method of artifact sifting in archaeology. Students will be able to try their hand at sifting through dirt that contains real artifacts.
*NEW* "Orion vs. Long Sash" Star Lab Constellation Program (On site, preschool thru Adult): This program focuses on the stars and their relation to Native American mythology and lore. The program will take place in a Star Lab Inflatable Planetarium and will allow students to look at the constellations and hear stories and tales that accompany those constellations. The program will focus specifically on a comparison of the Greek constellations and their Native American counterparts. (For A Limited Time Only)
